It may be a good idea to consider the following when starting the planning phase of your big day…
1) Nail the budget
Knowing your budget is very important. Setting a realistic budget that will allow you to accommodate all of the little extra’s that come later (The smaller details all add up!). Ideas are at the tips of your fingers, you may consider DIY projects, these almost always cut the costs.
2) Guestlist – Get those numbers down!
Know your numbers. It may be a good idea to get a rough estimate of the number of people that you would like to attend, as this will assist in finding your venue. When venue searching starts, it’s important to know if the venue will accommodate your Guestlist. This leads us straight into the next tip…
Choosing your venue sets the tone for everything. Your venue should tie in with your vision. Finding the right venue comes down to budget, size, theme, personal style and season. Decide on possible dates, as venue availability is very important. Book a site visit and get as much information from the wedding coordinator as possible. Shortlist 2 or 3 venues and weigh up which venue offers more for the same budget.
4) Use the right tools
Wedding sites, checklists, idea folders etc. Do research on as many vendors as possible in your region that cover decor, flowers, catering, music, lighting, cakes, dresses etc. We will be adding a few recommendations on our site so that narrows it down for you!.
